Performance: True Margrit at Bob's Java Jive
The pop piano trio True Margrit creates a genuine band to fan relationship in thier live performance. What a great time to see them perform live. Having heard their latest CD, "The Juggler's Progress" before seeing them live, I was struck by the complexity of the music, the delivery of the lyrics, and in my opinion, how much better their music is live! Seeing is believing and True Margrit draws you in to the truth behind each and every tune. Moreover, they create an interactive space with the audience which a rarity for serious musicians who don't take themselves too seriously. This trio has fun performing together creating a direct connect with every person in the room.
Rock on True Margrit!

Performance: Donna the Buffalo at Boulton Center
Donna The Buffalo - January 30, 2010 Lincoln Theater Raleigh, N.Carolina Hey All! Awoke to find the entire Raleigh area shut down. It was only 4-5 inches of icy snow but they don't know how to deal with it down here. They really don't know how to drive in this stuff, nor do they have the snow removal capabilities that we Northerners do. Jordy & i, along with the hotel tried all morning but we couldn't get a cab to make the 5 mile trip to pick us up. Thanks to some friends & their big 'ol 4WD for rescuing us. On the short trip into Raleigh i counted no less than 15 separate spinouts & accidents in the snow & ice. Raleigh was actually quite beautiful covered in snow & ice & there were a few things open. We found a Cajun restaurant, The Big Easy & had a great meal, Abita beer, & a soundtrack that included Keith Frank, Boozoo Chavez, etc. "The weather outside is frightful In here it's so delightful" If the band had not been already set up & ready to play, the venue would've canceled this show. You really couldn't have blamed them. It was downright dangerous out there. But you knew Donna The Buffalo was gonna play. It didn't matter if it was just the people who could walk to the venue, they were gonna play. The Lincoln Theater holds around 900-1,000 people & i'm thinkin' only 200-300 souls braved the storm & made it to the party. WE WERE GREATLY REWARDED. From the 1st note to the last, this night was 1 for the ages!
