The Steel Knives (formerly Malaker & Baransky) is a 2-man-1-woman alternative electro-acoustic rock band. We play mostly original music, although we cover a diverse range of favorites and forgottens for our live shows. We’re older than the Jonas Brothers but younger than the Stones. We’re based in Northeastern PA (but always willing to travel). Ed Malaker plays guitar and sings, Frank Baransky plays bass and sings, and Martie Malaker rounds out the sound with keyboards. With the Steel Knives, you should always expect the unexpected. For the latest info, please visit our official website or stop by our myspace page!

Performance: Malaker & Baransky's Steel Knives at The Blue Pelican

I was at the Blue Pelican for my usual round or so, just to see the neighbors and cap off the week. I see two guys setting up to play, and I think to myself ... "Well, you never know - I'll hang around for three tunes just to see how they are." I stayed the entire time, just to hear what these guys would come up with next - until closing that is. They didn't stop playing until then, and I was very impressed with the repertoire as well as the quirky treatment they chose to display. Some tunes I had never heard before - and that is an impressive feat. Maybe 20 people or so in the crowd, but they all enjoyed what was happening, and there was something for everybody. Eclectic and quite refreshing. Consider me a fan.
